Stop Fighting

A friend of mine asked what will I do if someone attacks from behind? this is a question which I was asked the most number of times on Martial arts and he went on and asked what will I do if some one points a gun on you?.. well there is little or nothing can be done in a similar situation except to hope for the best, through there are a new bread of Martial arts which promises to defend even attacks from gun? I hope you would have seen it and the impression given over it is "Practical" I personally believe it only creates a false sense of security in you. It should be appreciated for the fresh outlook which it has managed to pump into Martial arts but coming back the question can one really defend against Guns and other lethal weapons? if you ask me, the answer is no!! but then What is the point in learning Martial arts if one cannot defend himself against Guns? I believe there is a point in learning Martial art in spite of some of the loop holes which it cannot manage. In General a Martial artist is looked as a "Hero" and a black belt is glorified as a Super Human, nothing less than that (ask any black belt about the reception he gets when he reviles his identity) I have personally seen some black belts who are incapable of fighting outside there Dojo, I have even seen some run, but hold on I advise my students to run as well, because I don't dub anyone as a Super Human or creative a false sense of security, cause each every person who comes to me to learn some techniques or even to get my tips on Martial arts are valuable to me. So only advise them about what can be practically done. 1. if you are alone and if there are a dozen of them ready to charge at you (if this is the case then seriously check your character :) ) the best option is to talk with them, try to start a dialogue, try pacifying them and ask them the reason. if there are half dozen guys preparing to take on your then it should be relating to some action which you have done in the near past. cause there is little chances of half a dozen bugglers waiting to empty your pockets, it wont happen unless you are the richest man in the continent :) I would suggest my team to try talking out with them but there is no need to panic (I know its easier said than done) there are methods to deal with a panic situations which we will discuss in another blog. Never let them know that you are taken by surprise, try solving the issues without getting into a brawl, always remember that you cannot spend more time in the streets facing the counter of attacks of their gang, even if you thrash them as the roughs can, but there are situations where there is not place to hold dialogues and fighting is the only way to move forward, like in case of theft or being assaulted, some of your friends are attacked by a group of people, or if a violent mob catches us when you are least expected but unless there is a need never invite for a fight, fighting is definitely no the first option, don't let you ego over take the situation and don't let you panic to surrender yourself, if possible you can also flee from the location that is if there are half a dozen of them with stuffs to Rock you! but you cannot afford to run all time, at time you might be with you friends and family, if you have practiced you moves and if it is in your muscle memory then trust me there is nothing to worry, but if you are trained to win just for sporting medals then you yourself will come to know who was better after the fight.

So coming back to the story, I don't advise my students to brave a gun or knife, in some classes I have seen a Senior master explaining on television that "A guy can swing a knife in only 4 ways and we will teach them how to block and counter attack them" according to me never set you frame of mind on the fact that a guy can swing his knife only in 4 possible ways!

And what is the point in learning martial arts if the it cannot be applied all the time??
Answer is: What is the need of military personals trained for years when a countries has N-Bomb?

Like any other stream Martial arts too as its on complications and minus but its always better to learn something rather than facing the streets empty handed but it would be better if that "something" is realistic and easy to apply more importantly not to "cinematic"

My Club, My Home

My long time passion Martial arts, ever since I saw Bruce lee walking on the wall in the climax fight of Enter the Dragon when I was 4, I was hooked but couldn't learn Martial arts because I was too young, later I pursued my dream when I was 10 and took it seriously when I was 16. Since then I always wanted to teach, teaching something new to an other person was always was a great and satisfying feeling. Now after so many years and experience in Martial arts I want to run a club of my own and another main reason which strongly made me to dream about this is after looking at so many MARTIAL ARTS INSTRUCTORS, I always felt I can do better than them, I always felt that my quality is better than them and seeing them always made me upset..lol. but unlike many of them I want this to be a realistic self defense club, I say realistic because I sincerely believe that most of the martial art techniques which one learns in the traditional way helps very little in a real life fighting situation. May be a well seasoned martial artist might make his opponent run for his money but then a technique should be used by all atleast my a majority of them who peruses it. Thank god I am into Kickboxing which is very realistic with no fancy moves, the techniques are simple, straight and mainly practical which can be easily converted to a muscle memory move because unless its in your blood you can do nothing but freeze in fear in a "Real situation" the moves should be practiced in such a way that it is in tune with your subconscious and that is the also another reason why I decided to add more flavors in my club, apart from Kickboxing and realistic self defense techniques I am going to teach Aerobics, Cardio workouts and Yoga Asanas to get people in shape without taking any pills but of course with some quality diet and let me remind you that I am qualified to teach all of the above arts :) so that makes it a clean, quality, crisp blend of Self defense and Fitness and that is not the end, I have started learning NLP, which I think is a great thing to uncover our true potential and the combining that with Meditation I will be able to produce a great package Mind Workouts which is more important than anything else, a good mind can achieve anything it targets but the complication is in making the mind "good" even if we are to uncover one third of our potential from our mind we can do "wonders". Wonders is a word which is often used to describe something great, but when I say "wonders" here I really "wonders'' and with some more quality arts to add, my club will be a combination of self defense, fitness and fitness to mind. I will be into training NLP only after I am completely qualified to do so, which might take some time and I think I will be able to complete my dreams in a span of 3 to 4 years from now. By the time I will be having more experience in Martial arts, fitness and in NLP which I plan to teach in my club is Kickboxing, Aerobics, Cardio Workouts, Yoga Asanas and Meditation and NLP, initially I will be starting in my dear Madras and then to Pudhucherry and then all over

Once again a Warning Note

ANOTHER BLOG TO TELL YOU THAT "LITTLE KNOWLEDGE IS A DANGEROUS THING"

please note: the blog may be repetitive of my previous blog, but I am sorry I couldn't resist

This is to inform all the people in Chennai and India especially who are interested in learning Muaythai and Kickboxing!

There are Many Martial arts enthusiast in the country who have little knowledge about Karate or other Sports based Martial arts are jumping into Muaythai and Kickboxing to cash in on the popularity of the Art, Muaythai is a developing art in India and there are only few authorized professional clubs in the country, the problem now is many master's especially from Karate who have never heard of Muaythai before the movie Blood Sport, Kickboxer and Enter the New Dragon ( by Tony Jaa) have started taking classes and the people who are really affected by this are the poor students who are no knowledge about the ART completely trust their teacher and end up paying heavy fee for this. in the time of need that is only in the real life fighting situation they will come to know that what they have learnt is of no real use and the end up rating the ART as cheap or useless. Unless you learn the Art from a Proper Master you wont be able to feel or learn the real essence of the Art such as Kickboxing or Muaythai. Students of the masters who have suddenly started teaching Kickboxing or Muaythai should ask their masters from where they learned art? and they should be very careful in selecting a teacher especially when it is a budding art in their locality such as Kickboxing AND Muaythai!

GRADES IN MUAYTHAI
Unlike most of the eastern form of Martial art Muaythai does'nt have a grading systems (until very recently) only the western and European clubs which teach Kickboxing issues Belt to develop their club. A professional Muaythai club concentrate more on the fights and spend time in improving their skills rather than promoting their ranks, Pro Muaythai fighters will be least bothered about your belt you. In the BOUT all it counts is your skill which you have gained out of quality practice and trust me grades are no testimony for you skills

The following link will clear all your doubts regarding GRADES in Muaythai and you will come to know grades came into Muaythai

Beware of the "New Kickboxing Masters"

Are you interested in Kickboxing or about it learn this wonderful art? then BEWARE, this one is for you. There are lots of Martial Art teachers who had a long history of teaching has suddenly switched to "Kickboxing" and that too with no proper knowledge. The reason is because they are trying to cash in on the popularity of the art which is spreading quickly. If you are an amateur or even an intermediate in martial art chances are there that you won't be knowing the difference between Kickboxing and other arts and after enrolling your self with a fake master you will never get the real benefits of kickboxing and finally you may end up rating kickboxing cheaply. So beware and check the history of your master and try to find out what the master is really a master at before committing yourself to a Kickboxing Club
